Casa de Nabais

Interior Architecture, Decoration

In Ponte de Lima, in the heart of Minho, Casa de Nabais finds its own rhythm once again. Set within a 17th–18th century manor house, this project is guided by a restrained gesture: to respect the existing history and allow it to continue.
The intervention therefore unfolds in two tempos. The classical splendour of the original house coexists with a discreet modernity, creating a sensitive continuity between past and present. Nothing is imposed; everything is in dialogue.
The gym emerges as the most unexpected element of this narrative, a space of silence and focus, where the 21st century enters subtly, through low light, warm woods and a functional, integrated palette.
In the kitchen, memory is transformed. Here, the past is not nostalgia; it is living matter.
Throughout the house, photographs from the family archive and traditional Minho references preserve the identity of the place, bringing memory into the present with natural ease.
Today, Casa de Nabais is a rural hospitality tourism project. A place to inhabit time — with calm and intention.
